Playing Freeroll Poker Tournaments To Win Money

By Carl Walker

Many online poker sites offer freeroll poker tournaments. These tournaments award players with cash prizes. It does not cost any money to register for a freeroll. Poker DVDs and poker apparel are sometimes the only prizes awarded in these games and only the last remaining player usually wins the prize.

You need to remember that freeroll tournaments are going to take hours to complete. Luckily the tournaments typically give you a five minute break every hour. You will be surrounded by thousands of other poker players all longing to reach the final table. Be prepared to be with these people for a long time.

While some online freeroll poker tournaments only have one round, many have two or more rounds. In order to reach additional rounds, players must be one of the last remaining players in the tournament. To register for the next round, you must win a ticket in the current round.

Money could be won in the second round of the freeroll. The prize pool could be $100 or $2000. The more player entries in a tournament usually determines the number of places paid. If you make the money, the amount paid out is very small. Usually $0. 50-$15.

There are strategies that will help you succeed playing freerolls. The first strategy is being patient. Remember, you will be sitting in front of your computer for several hours. Find something to occupy you while you are being patient.

If you want to last until the final table, you must also use another strategy. Play very tight. Since there are so many other players in the tournament at first, you don't want to play a hand unless it is the best hand. So play the top five hands to play really tight.

If you are trying to win some free money that you can later use to reinvest into a cash tournament, freeroll poker tournaments are for you. The hours you are going to spend to win enough good money may not be worth it. You have to decide for yourself.
